Blood+ and Mai HiME

Mai has short red hair and rather large beasts. She is typically a sister friendly to Mikoto and a guardian to her brother Takumi. She is also a close friend to Kuga Natsuki. She has a potential love interest of Yuuichi Tate and Kanzaki Reito. She is associated with fire and wields four 4 large golden rings with magatama as her weapons. She also uses a mitsu tomoe as her symbol. Running gags in the series include Mikoto burying her face in Mai's chest or Mikoto otherwise being possessive of her, Mai's beast size, and her cooking abilities.

Mai is the protagonist of the series. She is portrayed as a self-reliant person, hesitant to tell others about her problems. She is a first year high school student. She is also roommates with Minagi Mikoto. Her hobbies during the series are are working part-time jobs and taking care of Takumi. In the first episode she meets Yuuichi Tate and begins a love-hate relationship with him. Mai also rescues Mikoto by doing CPR, who was found in the river. Mikoto and Natsuki do battle while on the ferry, revealing magical powers;during this battle Mai figures out that she was power similar to the two. She later meets and befriend many people in the academy during episodes 2 and 3. She is informed my Nagi that her brother is in the forest, she then find him under attack by a Orphan. Mai then materializes her Elements for the first time and also acquires her Child, Kagutsuchi(pictured above), which she uses to defeat the Orphan. In the following episodes she fights with Mikoto and Natsuki. Mai picks up a job with Midori, Akane, and Kazuya. She soon begins a romantic relationship with Reito. Whom later she reveals her HiME powers in episode 8. In episodes 14 and 15 she joins with the other known HiMEs to free Fuka Academy from the Searrs control. Mai and Kagutsuchi block Alyssa Searrs attacks and defeats her Child. Beginning with episode 17, Mai becomes more unsure of her desires; she cannot decide between Yuichi and Reito, and she feels abandoned when Takumi starts to be more independent. Mai attempts to stop the fighting between HiME and instructs Mikoto not to fight. She later becomes enraged at Mikoto when in episode 20 it appears the latter is responsible for the disappearance of Takumi, although Mai herself feels responsible as well. Mai later becomes  increasingly attached to Yuuichi. It then leads up to episode 24 when he saves her from being defeated by Yukariko. A phantom HiME was attacking Mai in previous episodes. She is later revealed to be Shiho, Yuuichi's childhood friend and love rival. Shiho is defeated by Mikoto which results in Yuuichi Tate death. Mai then falls into a pit of despair. In episode 25 she turns out to be the last HiME standing and must confront the Obsidian Lord, who is behind the whole carnival. Nagi then leads Mai to the Obsidian Palace when the Obsidian Prince,who is in Reito's body, and Mikoto are. In episode 26 she battles with Mikoto, in which she declares her love for Mikoto, breaking the Obsidian Lord's control over her. Mai then defeats the Obsidian Lord with Kagutsuchi, returning to her normal school life.

Natsuki is typically a serious, rational blue-haired female. She is portrayed as a foil to the lighthearted Tokiha Mai. Her beauty is the target of several jokes, usually involving her becoming embarrassed in a situation. She also has Fujino Shizuru as a close friend. Natsuki's Element are a type of gun. She is usually associated with wolves, silver, and the element ice. She also has a habit of flicking her hair with her right hand. Running gags in the show are her hobby of collecting lingerie, her fondness of mayonnaise, and her tendency to become irritated easily.

Natsuki is a strong-willed and forceful individual known for being a truant. She rides a fictional Ducati model sportsbike called Ducati DRIII. Her only friend at the start of the series is Shizuru. She prefers to work alone, but over the course she warms up to Mai. She also works with Kaiji Sakomizu and Yamada to carry out her missions during the course of the series. All though she's in the same level as Mai. She explains that she is a year older than her due to after an accident she stayed away from school for a year, thus making her 18 at the end of the series.

Natsuki first appears in the first episodes chasing Minagi Mikoto, in the ferry Mai was riding on. She warns them not to go to Fuka Academy but her warning goes unheeded.

During the beginning, Natsuki doesn't want to work with Mikoto or Mai until episode 4 where Mai and Mikoto help her with her lingerie crisis. As the series progresses, the three fight off Orphans at the academy and they become friends. However, she takes a hating to Nao when the first meet in episode 7. 

 Natsuki's purpose for fighting is reveled in episodes 9 when the girls investigate the First District. Natsuki then tells the others that she wants revenge on the First District for causing the death of her mother, a researcher for the First District.
